A tilt-and-turn door opens directly onto the decking, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living.

The living area offers a comfortable place to unwind, with a large sofa and a statement snuggler chair — positioned to take in the views or relax in front of the contemporary log-effect fire. Ideal for relaxed evenings, whether watching a film on the Smart TV with Netflix, listening to music through the Sonos sound system, or enjoying a slower pace with board games. Underfloor heating adds warmth during cooler months, while air conditioning ensures comfort in warmer weather.

The dining area centres around a striking marble table, paired with sculptural wire dining chairs — a design-led setting that works equally well for relaxed meals, takeaway from a local pub or dishes prepared in the fully equipped kitchen, with the landscape providing a natural backdrop.

The kitchen is well equipped for a self-catered stay, with everything needed for relaxed dining — from simple suppers to slower mornings with coffee from the Nespresso machine. (See ‘What’s Included’ for full details of appliances.)

Considered touches, including a welcome hamper on arrival, help you settle in immediately, while a folder of local walks offers inspiration for exploring the surrounding countryside. Binoculars are also provided, allowing you to take in the surrounding landscape in greater detail.

The bedroom is designed as a calm and restful space, centred around a king-size bed with a laser- cut metal headboard, a high-quality British-made Harrison Spinks mattress, hypoallergenic bedding and Egyptian cotton linen — all contributing to a genuinely restful night’s sleep.

Wardrobe and shelving space is well considered, while underfloor heating and air conditioning ensure a comfortable temperature throughout the year. A Sonos sound system is integrated throughout the lodge, allowing you to set the atmosphere to suit your stay.

The en-suite bathroom features a powerful rainfall shower and a clean, contemporary finish, combining practicality with a level of comfort in keeping with the overall feel of the lodge.

A sliding door from the bedroom leads directly onto the decking, allowing the outdoor space to be enjoyed at any time of day.

A private, enclosed deck extends from the lodge, positioned to take full advantage of the elevated setting, far-reaching views and clear, star-filled night skies.

• The double spa bath is a defining feature. With adjustable jets, soft lighting and an inline heater, it can be enjoyed throughout the year — whether soaking at dusk as the landscape softens, or later beneath the night sky, with minimal light pollution. Filled fresh for each use and free from chemicals, it offers a more considered alternative to a traditional hot tub.

Each lodge at Bettws Court Retreats has been carefully positioned to maximise privacy. While the lodges are located on the same site, they have been thoughtfully arranged with consideration to orientation, cladding and planting, ensuring that once inside the lodge or on the decking, you are not overlooked.

Set on a working farm, the landscape is open and expansive, with panoramic views and minimal light pollution. Guests frequently comment on the sense of quiet and separation from everyday life — even when all lodges are occupied. Grazing cattle and sheep are often visible in the foreground, with rolling countryside stretching beyond.
