Old Barn House

The open-plan dining and lounge area provides a natural place to come together, with comfortable seating around the oak table for shared meals and relaxed gatherings. A softer seating area within the same space offers a quieter spot for reading or board games, all benefiting from plenty of natural light and views out to the mature garden. Doors lead directly outside, making it easy to move between indoor and outdoor space.

A separate living room, just off the dining area, provides comfortable seating for all guests, along with a Smart TV (with Netflix), books and board games. An electric log-effect fire adds warmth and atmosphere on cooler evenings, while sliding doors open onto the patio. A Bluetooth-enabled music system allows you to set the tone for your stay.

The kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped — something frequently highlighted in guest reviews — with a wide range of appliances, cookware and serving pieces. Key appliances include a fridge- freezer, electric induction double oven, dishwasher, microwave, air fryer, George Foreman grill, filter coffee machine and wine cooler. Whether preparing simple meals or cooking for a group, everything is in place to make it straightforward and enjoyable (see ‘What’s Included’ for full details). Thoughtful touches, including a welcome hamper on arrival, help you settle in straight away, while a folder of local walks provides inspiration for exploring the surrounding countryside.

Old Barn House sleeps up to 8 guests across four bedrooms, offering a flexible and comfortable layout.

One bedroom is located on the ground floor, along with a family shower room, while the remaining three bedrooms are on the first floor (one en-suite) alongside a separate WC:

First Floor:

• Holly – Twin beds or Superking bed

All bedrooms feature high-quality British-made mattresses (Hypnos or Harrison Spinks), hypoallergenic bedding and Egyptian cotton linen, ensuring a consistently comfortable and restful stay.

A spacious, enclosed south-facing garden surrounds the property, accessed via the sliding doors from the living room or doors from the dining area. The garden benefits from sunlight throughout the day and into the evening, making it an ideal setting for relaxed afternoons and sunset evenings.

The outdoor space includes:

• Hot tub for up to six adults (including one lounger seat)
• Double hammock
• Charcoal ceramic Kamado-style egg BBQ (April–October)
• Outdoor rattan seating for up to eight guests (April – October), ideal for alfresco dining
• Spacious lawn suitable for games and relaxation
• Outdoor games including football and goalpost, badminton, cricket, rounders and croquet

Whether it’s children running around, dogs exploring safely, or simply enjoying the open space, the garden is designed for both relaxation and play.

With open countryside views and minimal light pollution, evenings often extend outdoors — whether enjoying a quiet soak in the hot tub or making the most of the clear night skies.

A coarse fishing lake (Andy’s Fishing Lake) is located approximately 400 metres from the property and is available for guest use (see ‘Fishing Breaks’ for more details).

Old Barn House is particularly well suited to both families and those travelling with dogs.

The enclosed garden provides a secure outdoor space, while a range of practical touches help make stays easier and more comfortable.

For families, this includes a travel cot and mattress (guests are asked to bring their own cot linen), highchair, stairgates and children’s cutlery and crockery (see ‘Family Friendly Breaks’ for more details).

For dogs (maximum two), thoughtful extras include a dog crate with mat, bowls, blanket, towel, waste bags and welcome treats (see ‘Dog Friendly Breaks’ for more details).

The layout, outdoor space and quieter setting all contribute to a stay that feels relaxed and easy for guests of all ages.
