The Pursey family has farmed the Herefordshire countryside for generations. Roger Pursey was born at Trevase Farm, where Sarah later grew up, making the landscape surrounding our properties as much a part of our family’s story as the properties themselves.
When Liz Pursey opened Trevase Granary in 2007, it marked the beginning of a holiday business that has gradually grown into today’s collection of six properties, while remaining firmly connected to its rural roots.
Today, the collection has expanded to six properties across four peaceful countryside locations, but farming continues to shape the landscape, the changing seasons and the tranquil surroundings our guests enjoy throughout the year.

Trevase Granary is the only property in our collection situated on our family’s working farm, offering guests the opportunity to stay in an authentic rural setting where farming continues to shape the landscape throughout the year.
Rather than a visitor attraction, Trevase Farm is a genuine working farm. Depending on the season, you may notice tractors working nearby, haymaking and harvest taking place, or sheep and cattle grazing in the surrounding fields – gentle reminders that this is a real farming landscape rather than countryside created purely for visitors. For many guests, these small glimpses of everyday farm life become one of the most memorable parts of their stay.
While not located on the working farm itself, our remaining properties are all surrounded by the same beautiful Herefordshire countryside.

No two visits to the Herefordshire countryside are quite the same. As the farming year unfolds, so too does the landscape surrounding our properties.
Spring
Spring brings new life to the countryside. Lambs can often be seen playing in nearby fields around Trevase Granary and Old Barn House, while calves begin arriving during March and April. Bright yellow oilseed rape fields bring vibrant colour to the countryside, hedgerows burst into life, swallows return after spending the winter abroad and birdsong once again fills the mornings.
Summer
Long summer days bring haymaking, while fields of golden wheat and other crops gradually ripen across the countryside. By late summer, combines begin harvesting the crops, becoming a familiar sight as harvest gets underway. Sheep and cattle graze nearby, wildflowers line country lanes and long evenings provide the perfect opportunity for outdoor dining, countryside walks and simply enjoying the views.
Autumn
Autumn brings another change to the countryside. Maize reaches its full height before being harvested, cider apples are gathered from the county's orchards and the surrounding landscape gradually transforms into rich autumn colours. Autumn is one of our favourite seasons for crisp countryside walks, cosy evenings and watching the changing scenery unfold.
Winter
Winter is the countryside at its most peaceful. Frosty mornings, bare trees and far-reaching views create a wonderfully calm atmosphere, while January and February mark the start of lambing season as the next farming year quietly begins. Before long, the first lambs begin to appear, marking the start of another farming year.

No. Trevase Granary is situated alongside our family’s working farm. Penblaith Barn, Old Barn House and Bettws Court Retreats are surrounded by beautiful Herefordshire countryside and farmland but are not located on the farm itself.
Depending on the time of year, you may notice tractors working in surrounding fields, haymaking, harvest, livestock grazing or other seasonal farming activities. Every visit offers a slightly different glimpse of life in the Herefordshire countryside.
Trevase Farm is a working family farm rather than a visitor attraction, so we don’t offer farm tours or organised farm activities. However, staying alongside a working farm allows guests to enjoy an authentic rural setting and experience the changing rhythm of the farming year.
Guests regularly spot deer, pheasants, robins, swallows during the summer months and birds of prey soaring overhead. Depending on the season, you may also see sheep and cattle grazing in neighbouring fields.
Yes. All six properties enjoy peaceful rural settings where birdsong, fresh air and open countryside replace the noise and pace of everyday life.
Yes. Although Trevase Granary is located alongside our family’s working farm, the holiday accommodation occupies its own dedicated area, separate from the day-to-day farming operation. As with all our properties, we simply ask that children are supervised by a responsible adult throughout their stay.
